Remodeling A Home Office In A
Nutshell
Many of us have started working from our homes and use the
dining room table or the bed as our desk with papers and notes
all over the place. If you are one of these people, its time
you looked closer at remodeling a home office.
Nearly 70% of us take some of the work from the office to our
home; it is not surprising that home office furnishing is one
of the fastest growing lines of furniture.
Remodeling a home office can be fun and relatively easy if you
plan it out well. Most of us don’t allocate a huge space to
this project, often ending up with the basement, the garage or
a closet to work in. The good news is that any space you choose
is more than enough to get you a cozy, inspiring work
place.
Budget
First and foremost it is the budget that you need to work with
and around so, depending on how much you allocate to this
project you will be choosing the quality of the material. Keep
in mind that investing in good quality products will last you
for a longer period of time even if the inexpensive range may
look very tempting.
Think Multi-Purpose, Multi-Function and Even Mobile Office
Furniture
Closet – if you are working on remodeling a home office closet
you need to find the one that is deep enough to fit the
computer and some shelves and you got yourself an instant
office. Most closets are around 30” deep and 60” wide which is
just enough space available to hold a computer hutch and a
filling cabinet.
Try getting a mobile computer which can easily be moved around.
Also, to save floor space, try attaching shelves on the
wall.
Home office equipment too needs to be bought with the
multi-function idea in mind to save you space and money so, try
getting a fax/copier/scanner/printer that can cover all your
office needs in one package.
On the closet door you can hang the bulletin board and/or use a
hang over the door shoe caddy to put all your office
supplies.
Remodeling a home office in any other place rather then a
closet will give you many more choices and ideas to work with.
If you don’t have a closet to allocate as a work place or a
garage or a basement try using a corner in the living or the
guest bedroom.
Personalize Your Working Space
In order to make your working space creative and inviting you
may want to consider adding that extra touch that symbolizes
you; a picture, flowers, a plush toy or anything else that
brings a smile to your face every time your eye catches it. Do
not forget the little piece of chocolate either that you will
need from time to time.
Get creative when remodeling a home office; after all you are
the one who will spend a precious amount of your life in there
so make it as welcoming yet professional as you possibly
can.
